Make Your Own Kind Of Music wurde geschrieben von Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil und gesungen von Cass Elliot. Das Lied ist auf ihrem 1969er Album "Bubblegum, Lemonade and Something for Mama" zu finden. Es gibt noch andere, die das Lied gesungen haben, u.a. Bobby Sherman und Paul Westerberg.
- Im Februar 2006 gab es in den USA eine Snickers-Werbung, die mit Sherman's Version unterlegt war.
- Cass Elliot's Version taucht, neben vielen anderen Liedern von ihr, auch im Film "Beautiful Thing" auf.

"Make Your Own Kind Of Music" in LOST
Am Anfang von "Glaube und Wissenschaft" spielt Desmond das Lied auf seinem Plattenspieler in Station 3 (Schwan-Station). Es scheint sein allmorgentliches Ritual zu sein mit diesem Lied aufzuwachen und dann seinen Beschäftigungen nachzugehen. Später benutzt Desmond das Lied, um Jack davon abzuhalten in die Station zu kommen.
Innerhalb einer Rückblende in "Erinnerungsfetzen" hört Desmond den Song zweimal an unterschiedlichen Abenden im gleichen Pub. Der Song löst bei ihm am ersten Abend ein Déjà-vu Erlebnis aus und ihm fallen Dinge ein, die jetzt geschehen sollten. Sie geschehenn aber nicht. Allerdings geschehen sie bei seinem zweiten Besuch im selben Pub, nachdem der Song erneut erklingt.
